Addictive behaviors among healthcare workers: A bicentric Tunisian Study

Introduction Addiction is a disease that comes with range of consequences. Its physical, mental, personal, social and financial repercussions could not be neglected. Yet, this issue still stigmatized. It public health problem may affect people from different backgrounds including healthcare professionals. Objectives To investigate the risk factors for substance addiction: cigarette addiction behavioral internet among care Methods A cross-sectional bi-centric study was conducted workers two hospitals in center-east Tunisia. questionnaire distributed to those who gave their oral consent take part study. included items related participants’ socio-demographic characteristics, medical history, self-esteem mood assessment. combined questions Rosemberg scale (RSES) Beck Depression Inventory alongside validated tests: Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE-IQ), Fagerstrom Test Cigarette Dependence Internet (IAT). Results Among respondents, 16.1% were smokers. Risk smoking were: being male (OR=9.62), contact patients (OR=4.75), job tenure exceeding ten years (OR=3.11), having regular alcohol consumption (OR=7.27), unprotected sex (OR=9.24), depression (OR=3.87) or suffered sexual abuse during childhood (3.07). Nevertheless, practicing sport regularly (OR=0.32) anxiety (OR=0.23) identified protective factors. high level observed 34.3% Predictors dependence over (OR=20.69), (OR=6.11) (OR=7.14). workers, 70.8% reported normal use. specially seen engaged (OR=2,92) worried about unsuccessful (OR=1.91).
